London City Airport is the smallest London Airport. It is jointly owned by GIP (75%) and Highstar Capital (25%) and operated by London City Airport Ltd. The airport serves as base for smaller planes that require shorter take offs and landing.
City Airport is located about 11 kilometers east of the City of London on a former Docklands site opposite to the London Regatta Centre in east London. The airport has only one runway and largely serves the financial district of London. It is the smallest of the international airport. However, it receives business passenger traffic all through the year because of its proximity to London’s Docklands and financial district. It is the closest private jet centre to Central London. The airport is at its busiest during the winter months with flight operation to ski resort gateway destinations including Zurich, Geneva and Milan.
Shops, restaurants, bars, business facilities and all other amenities catering for the requirements of all types of passengers are available in the airport.
